PopCap's Mega-Hit Peggle Coming to Nintendo DS This Winter

PopCap's Mega-Hit Peggle Coming to Nintendo DS This Winter
Q Entertainment Tapped to Adapt Top Casual Game of 2007for Nintendo's Market-Leading Handheld

SEATTLE, Washington - July 25, 2008 - PopCap Games Inc., the leading developer and publisher of casual video games, today announced that later this year the company's mega-hit game Peggle will be available for Nintendo DS. During his keynote presentation at CGA Seattle yesterday, PopCap CEO David Roberts provided an early glimpse of the DS version of Peggle, which is expected to hit North American retail shelves in Winter 2008 and carry an MSRP of US$29.95. In bringing Peggle to the world's most popular handheld gaming device, PopCap has partnered with Q Entertainment, the acclaimed Japanese development studio. Q Entertainment is already underway with the adaptation of Peggle, and will be adding features unique to the DS version that are not available in the existing PC, Mac or iPod versions of the game.

"I have a great deal of respect for Q Entertainment as one of the industry's preeminent game developers, with a proven reputation for creativity and innovation," stated Greg Canessa, PopCap's vice president of video game platforms. "Q is a great choice to partner with us - they share many of PopCap's design and creative philosophies and are equally big believers in quality and attention to detail. These factors, combined with Q's impressive track record of success on DS and PSP, make this a natural fit. I'm confident that Q will create an experience with Peggle for DS that will both satisfy existing fans of the game and attract a new audience of on-the-go gamers who appreciate the DS for its one-of-a-kind display format and other unique capabilities."

Q Entertainment's best-selling franchises include Lumines (for PSP, PS2, XBLA, PC, mobile), Meteos (Nintendo DS), and Rez HD (XBLA). "We at Q Entertainment are honored to be working with PopCap and view this as a fun, exciting challenge - taking a very popular casual game and bringing it to a more hardcore audience on the DS," stated Shuji Utsumi, Q's co-founder and chief executive officer. "PopCap's games are simple but addictive, and Peggle demonstrates that even a simple game can be extremely deep. We've always incorporated casual game elements into our console and handheld games, and now we have an opportunity to bring our gaming sensibilities and expertise to the DS version of Peggle, and make a very novel 'cross-over' game for all ages."

Precise details of the forthcoming DS version of Peggle are not yet available, but the game is expected to feature more levels than any existing version of the game - including DS-exclusive levels - and will also offer re-mastered input controls and a wealth of surprise additions sure to please die-hard fans and novice players alike.

Cult Classic Shooter Rez Comes Back To Life On the Xbox LIVER Arcade

Tokyo, Japan (Sept. 12, 2007) - Tokyo-based video game developer Q Entertainment, Inc. today announced that the critically acclaimed video game title "Rez" is being developed for the Xbox LIVE Arcade with a target release date of Q1 2008. Originally released by SEGA in Japan in 2001 for the Dreamcast and PlayStation2 computer entertainment system, followed by a North American release only for the PlayStation 2 and European release on both platforms in early 2002, Rez was developed by SEGA's United Game Artists ("UGA") division. Tetsuya Mizuguchi, former president of UGA and current chief creative officer of Q Entertainment, conceptualized and produced the fast-action shooter, which is known to be one of the most unique, offbeat and eccentric games ever released.

"We are excited to announce that Rez will be given a new life, this time in digital form," said Mizuguchi. “The game will be presented in hi-definition and will be accessible to those who did not have a chance to experience Rez the first time around. Personally, Rez has been and will always be a lifelong concept. I hope to take what I learned from the experience of creating the original game and look forward to taking it to a whole new level in the future."

Carrying the slogan "Rez will open your senses...let's go to synaesthesia," the dynamic, total integration of visual presentation, sound and player's input provided a rich aesthetic experience that was difficult to describe in words. While the basic gameplay was simple, critics called Rez "the ultimate audiovisual experience" and emphasized that "it must be seen and heard to be fully understood. "The old-school vector style graphics, sensory response and beat synchronization presented by the game set aside the title apart from the rest of the games that were released during that time.

Rez HD (title pending) for the Xbox LIVE Arcade will be a direct port of the original, delivered in hi-definition and 5.1 surround sound. Further details on Rez HD for the Xbox LIVE Arcade including pricing will be revealed at a later date.

Exactly five years after the devastating 9/11 attack on American soil, a single music video titled "Heavenly Star" was released online. In a matter of seconds, minutes and hours, Genki Rockets' debut music video was streamed, viewed and widely distributed on various sites including Youtube.com, MySpace.com and counted over 100,000 views on gaming network site 1up.com. A few months later, Genki Rockets made its in-game debut with "Lumines II" (PSP) in North America and Europe and the song's catchy, uplifting tune combined with equally striking video caught the attention of many gamers, leading to a nomination for Best Song at the 2006 Spike TV Video Game Awards. The Japanese version of the game followed in February 2007. Genki Rockets is a unique, audio-visual hybrid group that consists of a few artists and will be collaborating with other artists in the future to bring new music and videos. Its character and story is set in the not so far away future of 30 years from today and centered around a 17-year old girl named Lumi from outer space. On December 13, 2006, "Heavenly Star" was made available for purchase at the iTunes store (US and Japan). A few days later on December 18, invited guests at the Mado Lounge located on the 52nd floor in Roppongi Hills/Tokyo were treated not only to one of the gorgeous backdrops in world, but a memorable, world's first Heavenly Star Party in which five DJs performed their own rendition of the song. The show was unstoppable and the energy level was as high as the tower itself.
